When It Rains, It Pours

Oh, how I wish I was speaking in the literal sense.

For those who don't know, in addition to blogging and waiting tables, I'm also an actor.  Fortunately, I am blessed to say that I am a working actor, and for the last 3 years I've enjoyed a steady stream of stage work, commercials, and film shoots with little to no down-time in between.  Of course, taking into account that all of this is in addition to working five days a week and teaching an occasional dance or Pilates class here and there, some of you might begin to question the use of the word, "fortunate."

Most of the time, this is honestly how I prefer things to be.  But like anything in life, there are exceptions.  And to get you up to speed (I would say, about warp 2), I am in tech for a show opening this week, I just started rehearsals for my next project that will open a week after this current one closes, I am starting work on choreography for a monthly master class I will be teaching starting next week.

Which is why for the timebeing I will not be publishing on my normal schedule.  In other words, Recipe Monday will have to be interpreted quite loosely.

I am aware that how busy I am is completely up to me.  I have the power to say "Yes" or "No" to any opportunity or proposition.  And my philosophy is that as long as the outcome is beneficial or helpful in some way, both to others and to myself, then I can justify the density of my obligations.  But when things start to feel excessive, detrimental, or I start to feel resentful, it then becomes necessary for me to streamline and edit my schedule, recognizing that there is only so much that I can do.  And that is where we are, folks.

So rather than trying to invent new ways to burn a candle, I'm just going to do the best that I can and take it one day at a time.  And if I manage to squeeze in a post or two, awesome.  But if I don't, I'll just have to trust that the world will keep turning.

In the meantime, I hope you're enjoying the new look of The Canary Files.  It's not terribly different - just tweaked here and there.  Also, I've added a new a poll in the sidebar regarding what you believe the biggest challenge is in adhering to a "particular" diet.  Please respond to it if you have a moment - the results will inform a future post so I would love your feedback.  And finally, a big "Thank You" to everyone who is now following @thecanaryfiles on Twitter or on Facebook.  It's great, in and of itself, to send your voice out into the Universe, but it's also nice to be able to see who's listening.

Have an amazing week and thank you for understanding.

  1. I think your readers will understand. We all share the same hectic lives at some point or time. For my own blog (For any of you who are curious it's Oh the humanitea.blogspot) I do not have a set schedule because I really couldn't set one for the time being. I know yours is definitely more structured and focus than mine is, but that's because we're individuals and express ourselves in our own unique ways. I know when I'm feeling overwhelmed with tasks; I have to take myself out for 5 minutes to focus and breathe. If we create an impossible list for ourselves then we will end up accomplishing almost nothing and leave defeated. If we accept that we can tackle a few key items at a time; then will we will more confident and be happier in the end. Even though I'm incredibly tired from my day; I still feel happy because I know that what I've done today has been a success. I'm happy that you continue to have a good and steady schedule. It may be tiring, but if it makes you happy; then it is well worth while.

Thank you so much for visiting The Canary Files. I hope you have enjoyed what you have read and seen. Your feedback is valuable to me and I read and reply to every single comment. So sincere thanks in advance for sharing not only your thoughts, but your time as well.

All the Best,
